I LOVE DAYCARE!

When I was pregnant, deciding what I was going to do with my little one was very time consuming/stressful/awful.  I don't even remember if I ever really wrote about it.  Part of me never wanted to go back to work and just be with Emma everyday.  Then I thought if I could have someone come to the house, that would be great.  Then I thought, no no, daycare is the way to go.  Socialization and not worrying if the Nanny gets sick is best case scenario.

We had visited two daycare places.  In all honesty, I liked the first one and DH liked the second one. We both liked them both, but had initial strong feelings towards opposites.  Surprisingly I decided to go with DH's first.  It didn't work out due to scheduling, so we got to go with my choice in the end and let me tell you, I LOVE MY DAYCARE PROVIDER.  The people there just seem very down to earth and at the same time, so loving and caring.  I feel like they actual LIKE my child.  They tell me great things and tell me when the not so great things happen, like a scratch or if they think I should be giving her more food.  They give me advice when I ask for it, but let me tell them what I want happening.  I LOVE THEM!  The fact that I get a picture from time to time of her during the day always makes me smile as well.

They were even having a party last Friday at school (a day she doesn't go) and called to make sure I didn't want to drop her off because they didn't want to start any fun activities without her.  I politely declined, but they STILL MADE HER A SHIRT!  It may seem stupid and insignificant to some, but it is the world to me.

I hope they know how much I love them. Maybe I'll bring them a treat soon just to help the cause.

Emma is doing great though.  Her tooth is still coming in! It's hard to catch a pic, but I'll try.  She's rolling over more and we are trying to work on sitting up by ourselves.

Where is the Manual?

Can't someone just give me a specific day by day manual of what to do????

And you say, just google it????  GOOGLE IT?  Google will give you EVERY ANSWER YOU WANT AND EVERY ANSWER YOU DON'T WANT FOR THE SAME QUESTION!

I don't need advice, I need specifics here people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:)

Glad I got that out, now back to being a parent.

Carrots!

So our first food was CARROTS!  They were delicious if I do say so myself.  I went to whole foods and bought organic carrots and organic butternut squash.

I rushed home since DH was picking up Emma from daycare and I steamed the carrots, pureed them in my Baby Bullet with some extra water and VOILA!

We started with 1/4 cup (4 Tablespoons) and she kept going for another 2 tablespoons!  I was so proud of her (and myself).  We have video, still working on getting the videos off the camera and onto my computer.

I think I'm going to do avocados, then the squash next.  There isn't an exact science to my rhyme or reason, just what I want to do.

I got this book:

It's got great recipes and tips.  I also found the Baby Bullet gives great tips too!  We may be sending some cereal to daycare with her next week!

Yay for Success!

Reach Out and Touch Faith

No, this is not a religious post.  This is a celebration post.  A celebration of still having a good time after baby :)

DH and I went to see Depeche Mode last night at Jiffy Lube Live in Virginia.  It was AWESOME!  They played old and new songs and it was a great mix.  I'm the big fan, but fortunately hubbs likes them as well, so we both could enjoy it.

Grammy Smith came down to watch the babes.  It was nice to know she was in good hands and I didn't worry at all, but I have to admit, it was a little bitter sweet to get this pic:

HOW CUTE IS THAT?  It's SO easy to miss her. :)  Emma is doing so well with rice cereal.  I was going to start with avocados first, but I think I may go with carrots instead.  I hope she likes them as much as the cereal.  And let me tell you, I've tried the cereal..................not good.

So back to Depeche, we had front row seats of the second or third section.  Perfect viewing and it was the perfect temperature.  Had a beer and split a burger and app before the show at a delicious place Grafton Street.  I would totally go there again.  We got home at midnight and Emma decided to wake up a 3am.  Needless to say I'm on cup of coffee #2, but totally worth it.

We actually have concert #2 in two weeks, Imagine Dragons with the Neighbourhood opening up.  SUPER EXCITED!  Our friends are watching her.  First non-family babysitter.  She's amazing with her daughter though, so we probably couldn't have picked anyone better.

TOMORROW IS EMMA'S 5 MONTH BIRTHDAY, again  Bitter Sweet!

21 Week Update

Age: 21 Weeks - She'll be 5 months on THURSDAY!
Weight & Height: No updates since last appointment.
Things I enjoy: Eating CEREAL!  I also love my Sophie teether.
Skills I've mastered: I can eat cereal like a big girl.  I open my mouth really wide and barely let any sneak out.
Looking forward to:  Grasping my toys better and sitting up on my own.
Tough Times: Not too many, mommy and daddy have it pretty easy these days, but I'll be making it difficult for them soon enough.
Exciting Events: I ROLLED OVER!  I even did it for Grammy while we were on Facetime.
Looking forward to: Seeing my little cousin get baptized this weekend and seeing Grandmom and Grandpop Moher in October when Mommy and Daddy go to their friend's wedding.

FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD

Emma turned 20 weeks old on Friday.  She will officially be 5 months old in 9 days.  My little baby ain't so little anymore.  So DH and I have decided it is time to introduce RICE CEREAL!

As is everything that is related to pregnancy and babies, EVERYONE AND THEIR MOTHER has an opinion on it.  I've got some people who think I'm awful for starting before 6 months, I've got some people who think I'm crazy that I didn't start at 4 months and I've even got some people telling me to just give her bottles of water.

To each his own!

I trust my pediatrician with my baby's life, which is more important that trusting her with my own life.  Her opinion is: definitely not before 4 months, but whatever makes me comfortable.  Doesn't hurt to try and it doesn't hurt to wait.  Doesn't hurt to try, have her hate it and not be able to eat it, than try again later.  Have I ever mentioned I love my pediatrician?  She is so down to earth and on my same wave length.  Nothing is more valuable than that.

So today is the day.  Emma is 144 days old and old enough to give it a try (in our opinion).  I don't think I've been more excited about many things than this.  You should have seen me in Babies R Us buying her spoons and bowls and little sippy cups.  It's such a double edged sword.  You want your baby to be a baby forever, but you absolutely bask in the glory of every milestone they achieve in their life.

We will definitely be recording this momentous occasion.  If I'm lucky I'll figure out how to upload it.

Until next time.........
